The “Tolerance” Continues

October 22nd, 2008

Although other issues dominate the news, designed hatred continues:

On a website devoted to Ramadhan, the Muslim Brotherhood posted a series of articles by Dr. Ahmad ‘Abd Al-Khaleq about Al-Walaa Wa’l-Baraa, an Islamic doctrine which, in its fundamentalist interpretation, stipulates absolute allegiance to the community of Muslims and total rejection of non-Muslims and of Muslims who have strayed from the path of Islam.

In his articles, the writer argues that according to this principle, a Muslim can come closer to Allah by hating all non-Muslims - Christians, Jews, atheists, or polytheists - and by waging jihad against them in every possible manner.

This abstract is available at MEMRI. There is a link there to access the entire article.

Gullible

October 19th, 2008

Talk is cheap. We should be amazed at how effective these cheap words are among the masses. Oh, how many examples we could find on a daily basis. Certainly the current American political campaigns are full of examples on both sides of any isle. In the interest of objectivity, here is an outside example.

As reported by FoxNews online, Russia has vowed to not attack any of its neighbors:

In an attempt to calm fears of a new cold war, one of Moscow’s most powerful figures has said that Russia will not attack any of its neighbors and has no claim over any of the states it lost after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

These reassuring words ought to put the entire world at ease since it has been, what, several weeks since the Russian incursion into Georgia. That was so long ago.

The only reason these kinds of public statements are newsworthy is because of their hilarity. Still, the masses lap them up.

What Would I Ask?

October 7th, 2008

As I write this, the second Presidential Debate is on-going. One thing I find interesting is that the town-hall format includes a collection of undecided voters, on-stage, to ask questions.

I know that the undecided status is shared among many Americans. However, I will submit to you, that a significant paradox exists here.

Emptiness Abounds

October 6th, 2008

A man in an upscale SoCal neighborhood allegedly killed his wife, children, his mother-in-law, then himself due to mounting financial difficulties. The man was reportedly an accountant, so perhaps it will be argued that, due to his profession, he had no other way to measure his life. Or, we might surmise, that his luxuries and his possessions, and the luxuries and possessions that he provided to his family, were the only measures he had for of his existence. How utterly sad this is. How utterly empty.

Clarion Fund

October 5th, 2008

Clarion Fund is a private, non-profit organization that has a stated purpose “to educate Americans about issues of national security…” and with a primary focus “on the most urgent threat of radical Islam.” This is similar to the individual effort that I have undertaken here at Defend The West although I endeavor to expand the discussion into a more broad collage of topics of calamity that mankind seems inclined to bring upon itself.

Recently, Clarion distributed the DVD video Obsession to 28 million homes via newspaper subscriptions. The video is very informative and describes the intensity of the current threat. However, it does not delve very deeply into the “religious” aspects of the Jihadi threat. Predictably, the video, and Clarion, have been criticized as alarmist and out of step with progressivism - imagine that!

Oh-Jay Goes Down

October 4th, 2008

The law finally catches up with O.J. Simpson. By “law” I mean the kind that most of us understand as the structure of rules agreed upon by society that distinguishes between right and wrong. This is very different from the kind of “law” that is normally debated within the august chambers of our government - more commonly, the debate is about the methods of confiscating wealth, liberty, and power from us wee folks.

I wonder how OJ has been feeling for the last 13 years? I submit to you that he has no ability for contrition. I believe that he is one among us that has allowed all sense of moral responsibility to be programmed out of himself. I can’t wait to hear about the next book proposal.

Christmas in October (For Congress and Special Interests)

October 4th, 2008

Here is a broad review of the Bailout LAW.

The bill has become, in other words, something almost unrelated to the business of bailing out Wall Street. The Beltway term for this is a “Christmas tree bill,” meaning everyone gets to hang their favorite spending projects on it–though by the time Congress gets it through, it more closely resembles a slop bucket.

“We will not Christmas-tree this bill,” Sen. Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat promised a few days ago. “The times are too urgent. Everyone has their own desires and needs. It’s going to have to wait.”

So much for that idea.

A Blue “TARP” for Everyone!

October 4th, 2008

(Ref HR 1424)

Can you believe this? A central portion of the Federal Bailout legislation (now law) is called “TARP.” This is just too perfect for an act that will ultimately reward bad decisions, “snake oil” sales, pyramid schemes, and outright corruption throughout the connections between the Federal Government, certain elements of the Banking Industry, and key individuals that would love nothing more than the complete destruction of free commerce.

When poor performance, reckless decisions, and outright corruption are rewarded, we can only expect more of the same… and real wealth-building commerce will continue to be destroyed, thereby making us all equally poor (read “destitute”). Stock up on the Blue TARPs! Blue TARPs, and a bundle of 2X4s can make for a really nice home for most of us. As a bonus, if you are allowed by your government, pour half a cubic yard of concrete first, and “voila,” you just upgraded from a dirt floor!

Bailout? — Or Pulling the Plug?

October 3rd, 2008

I have not yet made an opportunity to read the Fed Bailout language as I did the earlier versions. The read will be a Saturday project.

I have an uneasy feeling about it (not the reading, the bailing). As I have stated previously - the federal government is the least efficient way to do ANYTHING. That is why its purpose should be limited to the things that only a federal government can do (common defense, etc.).

For the most part, the US Congress is a collection of the most consummate scoundrels that this society can produce. Now they will be in charge of the clean-up cash-flow for a problem that they created in the first place.

More on this tomorrow.

In the meantime, Michelle Malkin seems particularly opinionated on the topic.

A move was afoot to censure the earlier video.
