It is interesting occasionally keeping track of the activism of Netherlander Gert Wilders. He has announced that he will travel to the UK, at the request of a member of Parliament, despite the UK government’s label on him as persona-non-grata. Wilders, of course, is the producer of the film Fitna. It is this film that has caused him to be looked upon with infamy. A film that merely puts Islam on display using the words of Islam, and the contemporary deeds that have been attributed to Islam by the various perpetrators.
There is an article posted over at Pat Dollard that has another take on climate change. As expected, the conventional wisdom of the sky-is-falling crowd may be turned on its head. The interesting part that may require more reading is the part about higher levels of CO2 in the atmosphere being a result of warmer ocean temperatures, not the cause.
The explanation about this part is basically sound in that most gasses dissolve more readily in colder water versus warm. Warm the water up, and the gas comes out of solution. This is demonstrable in the kitchen with a pan of water. As you heat the pan on a stove, initially small bubbles form on the surface of the pan long before the water boils. These bubbles are gasses, such as CO2 and Nitrogen coming out of soution.
…wonder over to FrontPage Mag and read Ben Johnson’s Top 10 Stories and Non-Stories of 2008. Pay particular attention to the #1 Non-Story. Prepare to have shivvers run up your spine.
It has been at least weeks, and perhaps months over which “peaceful” Muslims in the Gaza have been again increasing their indiscriminate rocket attacks on Israeli civilians . Of course you have to be looking to find those stories.
As any, at least semi-moral government must do, the Israeli government initiated its own action for the purpose of protecting its citizens. Immediately, Muslims around the world once again claim victim-hood on behalf of the Gaza attackers and the Women and Children that they hide behind.
This article by Ben Shapiro has been out there for a few weeks, but it is worth mentioning here because it is a quick and useful summary of the situation in the long battle between Islam and everybody else.
Here is a teaser:
Enough with the psychoanalysis. They don’t hate us because of Israel. They don’t hate us because of Kashmir. They don’t hate us because we have troops in Saudi Arabia or because we deposed Saddam Hussein. They don’t hate us because of Britney Spears. They hate us because we are infidels, and because we don’t plan on surrendering or providing them material aid in their war of aggressive expansion.
President-elect Barack Obama is calling for Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich to resign, after the Illinois governor’s arrest on corruption charges caused an unwelcome home-state distraction during an intense transition period.
For most news outlets, this, dare I say, Democrat scandal, will be the gift that keeps on giving, for quite some time.
Massachusetts public schools are considering a program to teach children how to fight back in the instance of a “school shooting” in the making, but some think it unwise:
“To put that expectation on young, emotional, scared, frightened children is really a slippery slope,” says Kenneth Trump, the president of National School Safety and Security Services. “It has a high risk and higher probability of escalating a situation than it would to neutralize the situation.”
Disgraceful. Yes, better to stay quiet and be slaughtered like cattle. Right?
For a little change in pace, let’s look at another dynamic that threatens our long-term existence. Embodied in a two-letter acronym is a method of one-way communication that has inexorably effected (read: damaged) our society. Turning on the “TV” is not a normal action in most households - because it is always on. For many, television defines each moment of their lives.
From the Daily Mail, the words of the one surviving Mumbai attackers:
‘I have done right,’ he told investigators. ‘I have no regrets.’
and,
One police source said: ‘He [Kasab] was telling our people this in a most dispassionate way and responded to the horror their faces betrayed by shrugging his shoulders, as if it was all of no real consequence.’
